Obituary

Adolph A. Zumbahlen, age 90

of Newton, IL passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 9:10 AM, at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care, Effingham, IL.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24th at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Newton with Father Al Kemme officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday with burial to follow in the Westlawn Cemetery, Newton. Memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Society.

Adolph was born October 3, 1922 in Effingham County, IL, the son of Henry Zumbahlen and Rose Swingler Zumbahlen. He was a retired farmer from Jasper County. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. He became a member of the Knights of Columbus in 1962 and became a 4th Degree member in 1970.

He married Florence "Flo" Donsbach and she preceded him in death May 25, 2013. He was also preceded by his parents; 3 brothers, Ed, Norbert and Henry Zumbahlen; 2 sisters, Norma Gardewine and Ella Vahling.

He is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Connie Zumbahlen, John and Anthea Zumbahlen, and Mark and Poodie Zumbahlen, all of Newton; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
