Mrs. Almeda Rae (Hester) Brooks Hills, age 74
Of Casey, IL and formerly of Newton, IL passed away at 5:05 AM – Friday, February 3, 2012 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.
Funeral services celebrating Almeda's life will be held at 11:00 AM – Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton, IL with Bro. Dale Hood officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Newton, IL. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM – Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the funeral home. In loving memory of Almeda, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Support Group and can be left at the funeral home or sent to P.O. Box 333 Newton, IL 62448. Almeda was born on May 5, 1937 in Newton, IL the daughter of Eugene D. and Ruby P. (Williams) Hester. She married Ralph D. Brooks on March 24, 1957 and later married Walter "W.J" Hills on March 25, 1979 and he preceded her in death on February 24, 1996. Almeda was a sales clerk and manager of the Ruge` Fashion Shoppe in Greenup. She also worked at several restaurants in Casey. Almeda was a member of the First Christian Church in Casey. She enjoyed crocheting, needle work and was an avid baker. Almeda is survived by: Mother – Ruby Hester of Effingham, IL 4 Children – Deania (Tony) Trimble of Newton, IL; Dennis (Charla) Brooks of Newton, IL; Doris Facer of Paris, IL and Anna Marie Shlachter of Gurnee, IL Brother – Gerald Hester of Brandon, MS 7 Grandchildren 3 Great Grandchildren
Almeda was preceded in death by her father and husband.
