Mrs. Alta Helen Winter, age 89
Formerly of Rose Hill, IL passed away at 3:20 AM – Friday, December 23, 2011 at E.T. York Haven Hospice House in Gainesville, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM – Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the Bishop Funeral Home in Greenup, IL with David Heath officiating. Burial will be in the Harmony Cemetery in Greenup, IL. Visitation will be held for 1 hour before the service. The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.blakefh.com.
Helen was born August 29, 1922 in Marshall, IL the daughter of Harold and Lucille (Williams) Law and grew up in Casey. During WWII, she worked in an aircraft factory in Lawrenceville "not a Rosie the riveter" where she saw President Franklin D. Roosevelt tour through the factory.
Helen settled with her parents, in Newton, IL where she was a secretary at Newton Community High School and also worked in her father's plumbing and heating business.
Helen met Robert Rex Winter, and they soon were married and moved to his home town of Rose Hill, IL. She lived in Rose Hill until 2004 when she moved to Gainesville, FL with her sons due to health reasons. While living in Rose Hill, she was an active member of the former Rose Hill United Methodist Church and delivered meals on wheels to the shut-ins in the rural areas.
Helen was a homemaker and loving mother and was a devoted wife to her late husband.

2 Granddaughters – Megan and Jaden Riker Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 2 brothers Harold Law, Jr. and William Law.
