Bernell Gillespie, age 87

Bernell Gillespie, of West Plains, Missouri, formerly of Shelbyville, Illinois, and Newton, Illinois passed away at 2:22 AM - Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at West Vue Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in West Plains, Missouri.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM – Friday, September 9, 2016 at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois, with Carroll Ross officiating.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois.

Bernell was born on February 24, 1929 in Clay County, Illinois the son of Bonneta Gillespie.  He served his country in the Unites States Army from 1951 to 1952.
Bernell married Patricia Heady on March 28, 1964 and she survives.
Bernell was a farmer for many years as well as a factory worker.
He enjoyed hunting, reading and gardening.

Bernell is survived by his wife of 52 years Patricia Gillespie of West Plaines, Missouri and

brother-in-law Benny Heady of Mattoon, Illinois.

Bernell was preceded in death by his mother, grandmother Lucy Heady, father-in-law and mother-in-law Carl and Ethely Heady and a brother-in-law Gene Heady.
