Betty Joan (Harrison) Yaw, age 92

July 16, 1932 – July 24, 2024

Betty Joan (Harrison) Yaw, age 92, of Dennison, Illinois, passed away at 5:18 AM – Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Cumberland Rehab and Health Care Center in Greenup, Illinois.

A Graveside service celebrating Betty's life will be held at 1:00 PM - Monday, July 29, 2024, at the Jewett Cemetery with Pastor Irvin Figgins officiating.  In loving memory of Betty, memorials may be made to the Jewett Community Church.  Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home – Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois.  The obituary can be viewed, and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com.

Betty was born on July 16, 1932, in Charleston, Illinois, the daughter of Claude A. and Marjorie V. (Sims) Harrison.  She married Bobby L. Yaw in 1955, and he preceded her in death on August 2, 2002.

Betty was a teacher and taught Home Economics and Kindergarten.  She was the office manager for Student Publications at Eastern Illinois University until her retirement in 1997.

Betty also owned and operated Yaw's Trading Post in Jewett.  She was a longtime member of the Otterbein Methodist Church in Charleston and was currently a member of the Armstrong United Methodist Church in Dennison, Illinois.

Betty is survived by:

Grandson – Brandon Yaw

Brother – William A. Harrison

Several nieces and nephews also survive

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bobby Yaw, son Robb Yaw and a grandson Greg Yaw.
