Betty Lynn Higgins, age 85

Betty Lynn Higgins, age 85, of Racine Wisconsin, passed away at 5:20 PM – Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Helia Healthcare in Newton, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Betty's life will be held at 11:00 AM – Thursday, December 29, 2022, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Rick Britton officiating.  Burial will be in the South Muddy Cemetery north of Ingraham, Illinois.  Visitation will be held 1 hour before the service.  In loving memory of Betty, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Fund, PO Box 333 Newton, Illinois 62448.  The obituary can be viewed, and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com .

Betty Lynn was born September 5, 1937, in Newton, Illinois, the daughter of Warren Lowell and Shirley Marie (Jenkins) Stanley.  She married her high school sweetheart Shelby McRay Higgins on August 12, 1955 in Concord, California, and to think it all started when Betty told Shelby to "Shut up" when he told her to get to class.  Betty graduated with the Class of 1955, from Mt. Diablo High School in Concord, California.  She enjoyed cheerleading in both Jr. High (Newton) and High School.  She was a devout Christian and enjoyed being a wife, mother, and grandmother.  She loved sewing, quilting, baking, cooking, traveling, and gardening.  She was a room mother for her children, helped with 4-H and enjoyed helping others.  But what she loved most of all was being with the love of her life until his passing on February 8, 2022.

Betty is survived by:

Children - Deborah (husband David) Brown; Fred (wife Dawn) Higgins and Cathi Higgins

4 Grandchildren and several great grandchildren

Brother – Jerry Stanley

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and husband.
