Betty L. Watts, age 86

Betty L. Watts, age 86, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 2:21 AM - Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Newton Care Center in Newton, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM – Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.  Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois.  Visitation will be held 1 hour before the service.  In loving memory of Betty, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Senior Citizens.

Betty was born on July 14, 1931, in Jasper County, Illinois, the daughter of Sie and Flossie (Cramer) Chapman.  She married William A. Watts on December 24, 1948, and he preceded her in death on May 28, 2001.

Betty was a homemaker and cook.  She worked at TRW in Casey for several years and at Huck's in Newton.

Betty enjoyed hand embroidering.

Betty is survived by:  Daughter – Wanda (husband Stricklin) Jernigan of Newton, Illinois

Grandchildren – Shawn Dee (wife Teina) Piercefield of Newton, Illinois; Missy Jo (Brad) Colwell of Newton, Illinois; Bradley Jay (wife Mandy) Piercefield, Illinois and Jami Rae (husband Corey) Webb of Columbia, Illinois

Brothers – Dale Chapman of California and Kenneth Chapman of South Dakota

Sister – Mildred Blake of Yale, Illinois

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Linda Watts, 5 brothers, 1 sister and 2 half brothers.
