Beverly Jeannette (Chesnut) Matson, age 72

Of Newton, Illinois passed away at 4:55 AM - Saturday, September 6, 2014
at her home.

Celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 PM – Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the New Beginnings Church in Newton, IL. Visitation will be held 2 hours before the service. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, IL.
In Loving memory of Beverly, memorials may be made to New Beginnings Church.

Beverly was born on May 13, 1942 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, IL the daughter of Morton Scott and Dorothy Lucille (Fallert) Chesnut. She married Larry Gene "Red" Matson on September 1, 1961 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in rural Bogota, IL and he survives.
Beverly owned and operated Second Hand Variety resale shops in Newton and Ingraham for many years. Her most important job was being a pastor's wife. She and Red worked together in their ministry and shared their love for God through music.
Beverly was a member of the First Baptist Church of Zapata, Texas.
Her life revolved around husband, children and grandchildren.
Beverly is survived by:
Husband of 53 Years – Larry Matson of Newton, IL
Sons – Danny (Cindy) Matson and Tom (Julie) Matson both of Newton, IL
Brother – Dennis (Carolyn) Chesnut of Lone Jack, MO
Sisters – Connie (Martin) Gorrell and Becky Fehrenbacher both of Decatur, IL
Mother-in-Law – Wanda Matson of Newton, IL
Grandchildren – Emily (Steven) Benefiel, Lucas Matson, Caleb Matson, Nick (Jessica)Matson, USAF and Meredith Matson
Step Grandchildren – Micah Miller and Trinity Miller
Great Grandchildren – Henry Will and Holden Benefiel

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents John and Ethel Fallert and Harshel and Carrie Chesnut; nephew Tommy Gorrell and her father-in-law Pete Matson.
