Carl Newlin, age 84

Of Newton, Illinois passed away at 3:35 AM - Saturday, November 22, 2014 at

Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Carl's life will be held at 12:00 PM – Monday, November 24, 2014 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois with Gerald McDowell officiating.

Visitation will be held 1 hour before the service.

In loving memory of Carl, memorials may be made to the

Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) of Newton, Illinois.

Friends and family are invited to the Newton VFW following the service,

for a time to celebrate Carl's life.

Carl was born on June 25, 1930 in Jasper County, Illinois the son of Hugo Peter Newlin and

Ethel (Weaver) Newlin. He married Violet Foltz on September 14, 1991 in Jasper County, Illinois.

Always working hard to provide for his family he worked several years as a Terminix technician and later as a self-employed carpenter. Carl loved to spend time with his family and friends sharing his love of playing pool and fishing. His love and success as a fisherman provided fish for many area fish fry.

Wife of 23 years- Violet Newlin on Newton, Illinois

5 Children- Steve (Dottie) Newlin of Mattoon, Illinois

Connie (John) Knutsson of Birmingham, Alabama

Tony (Bonita) French of Olney, Illinois

Kitty (Kevin) Lewis of Newton, Illinos

Angie (Tom) Butler of Newton, Illinois

4 Siblings- Margaret Daniels of Dieterich, Illinois

June Lingafelter of Decatur, Illinois

John Newlin of Bradenton, Florida

Janice Timmons of Mt. Zion, Illinois

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, grandchild Bo Culter and

3 brothers Clifford, Harold and Deleene.
