Catherine Ann "Cathy" Dasenbrock, age 68
June 16, 1956 – February 20, 2025

Catherine Ann "Cathy" Dasenbrock, age 68, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 2:30 AM - Thursday, February 20, 2025, at her home.

A mass celebrating Cathy's life will be celebrated at 6:00 PM – Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois, with Father Pawel Luczak celebrating mass.  A celebration of Cathy's life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Knights of Columbus in Newton, Illinois, from 6:00 PM until close, with Quarter Annie playing.  In loving memory of Cathy, memorials may be made to the Saint Thomas School, and can be mailed to the family, Michael Dasenbrock 805 West Washington Street, Newton, Illinois 62448.  Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.  The obituary can be viewed, and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com.

Catherine Ann, better known to her family and friends as "Cathy" was born on June 16, 1956, in Effingham, Illinois, the daughter of Clarence F. and Clara Marie (Bergbower) Schackmann.  She graduated from Newton Community High School with the Class of 1974.  Following high school, Cathy attended Lincoln Trail College and graduated with an associate's degree in special education.

Cathy married Michael Dasenbrock on December 12, 1975, at Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois.

Cathy had worked at UTA, Print Shoppe and retired from BK Resources in Altamont.  She was a lifelong member of Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois.  Cathy enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, fishing, Yoga, walking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Cathy is survived by:

Husband of 49 years – Mike Dasenbrock of Newton, Illinois

Children – Chris (wife Michelle) Dasenbrock of Newton, Illinois; and Yosha (husband Nile) Wilson of Sainte Marie, Illinois

Grandchildren – Briley, Olivia and Claire Dasenbrock

Siblings – Phyllis (husband Ron) LaFever of Indianapolis, Indiana; Helen (husband Reg) Galvin of Indianapolis, Indiana; Mark (Lois) Schackmann of Effingham, Illinois; and Norbert Schackmann of Mattoon, Illinois

Brothers-in-law – David (wife Steph) Dasenbrock of Olney, Illinois; and Tim Dasenbrock of Effingham, Illinois

Sister-in-law – Sue (husband Bruce) Diel of Newton, Illinois

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Denis Schackmann, Art Schackmann, Shirley "Lee" Schackmann, and Elizabeth Schackmann, and a sister-in-law Vickie Dasenbrock.
