Catherine Elizabeth (Kraus) Kocher, age 82

Of rural Newton, IL passed away at 3:36 AM –Sunday, January 27, 2013 at her
daughter's home in Springfield, IL.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM – Saturday, February 2, 2013 at St Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, IL. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Ste. Marie, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM – Friday, February 1, 2013 at the church. In loving memory of Catherine, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Fund or the Ste. Marie American Legion Post #932. Arrangements are under the care of the Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton, IL. The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.blakefh.com.

Catherine was born on December 6, 1930 the daughter of Charles A. and Mary L. (Mattingly) Kraus in rural Jasper County, Illinois. On October 8, 1955 she married Sylvan Martin Kocher son of Daniel A. and Ella M. (Kessler) Kocher at St. Valentine's Catholic Church in the Bend, Jasper County, IL her home parish, by resident pastor Rev. Walter Deppisch.

Catherine was a faithful member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church participating in the Worship Committee and as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. She embraced the role as a farmer's wife and enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. She was a member of the Jasper County Farm Bureau women's committee. Catherine was passionate about her country and showed her patriotic side by being involved with the Ste. Marie Post # 932 American Legion Auxiliary- past President. She enjoyed spending time with her family and listening to music.

3 Children - Charles S. Kocher of Springfield, IL
Rose M. (husband John) LoGrasso of Springfield, IL
James C. Kocher of Rural Newton, IL
5 Grandchildren - Daniel, Anthony, Catherine, Dominic and Teresa LoGrasso of Springfield, IL

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
