Cecil Green Jr., age 86 of Olney, formerly of Bradenton, FL., went home to be with his Lord at 4:59 PM, on Wednesday, July 17th, 2013 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 20th, 2013 at the Providence General Baptist Church in Providence, KY. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery in Clay, Ky. Jones-Erdman Funeral Home of Providence is in charge of the out of state arrangements.
Cecil was born on November 15th, 1926 in Providence, KY., the son of Cecil and Elsie Jane (Bruce) Green. He later married Betty Ann Broshears, at the Terrace Parke General Baptist Church in Evansville, IN., in 1957. She survives.
Cecil was a graduate of Bob Jones University and Asbury Seminary and was a minister and missionary for 32 years total, having served in Guam, Chi Chi Jima, Saipan, and 26 of those 32 mission years was spent in the Philippines. After Cecil returned from the Philippines he lived at the Bradenton Missionary Village in Bradenton, FL., before moving to Fox River Apartments in Olney. He attended Grace Evangelical Church in Olney, he was a member of Terrace Parke General Baptist Church in Evansville, IN., he was converted at the Providence General Baptist Church in Providence, KY., and he was a member of the Union Association, and Evansville Ministers Association. He was a World War II Army veteran and was promoted to Sergeant prior to discharge.
He is survived by his wife Betty, son, Paul Green, and his wife Laurel of Whittier, CA., daughters, Joyce Koker, and her husband Gene of Newburgh, IN., Cheryl White, and her husband Bob of Olney, Sue Hortin, and her husband Chris of Crawfordsville, IN., and brother John Green of Providence, KY., sister Mary Armstrong of Cotopaxi, CO., and 9 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Elsie Green, and sisters, Betty Holloman, Maud Dell Oakley and Sandra Baxla.
