Charles Vern"Chuck" Tarr, age 67
Charles V. "Chuck" Tarr, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 8:06 PM - Thursday, August 4, 2016, at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM – Monday, August 8, 2016 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM – Sunday, August 7, 2016 at the funeral home. In loving memory of Chuck, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Schools, St. Thomas School or the Jasper County Boy's and Girl's ball park. Charles Vern "Chuck" was born on July 3, 1949, in rural Wheeler, Illinois, the son of Donald M. and Alfreda (Kaufmann) Tarr. He married Lillian Thoreson on October 13, 1972, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois.
Chuck was a graduate and a member of the Class of 1968, from Newton Community High School. After high school he earned an Associate in Agriculture.
Chuck had worked at Jofco, Newton Associates, United Technologies and most recently at GSI. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, watching westerns and spending time with his family. He was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan and for many years Chuck coached ball at the Jasper County Boy's and Girls park.
Chuck is survived by:
Wife of 43 years – Lillian Tarr of Newton, Illinois
Son – Creighton (wife Lucy) Tarr of Paris, Illinois
Granddaughters – Ava and Emaline Tarr of Paris, Illinois
Brother – James (wife Delores) Tarr of Newton, Illinois
Sister – Betty (husband Larry) Stivers of Olney, Illinois
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Jacqueline Tarr, sisters JoAnn Tarr and MaryAnn Tarr and a brother Jerry Dean Tarr.
