Charles "Fred" Hendershott, age 90, of Olney, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at his residence.

Celebration of Life service will be on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 11 AM in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home in Olney. Burial will be at Dundas Cemetery. Reverend Zachary Caress will be officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Fred was born on December 2, 1925 in Dundas, the son of William E. and May N. (Hill) Hendershott. He later married Jean Bauman on May 1, 1946 in Morganfield, Kentucky. She preceded him in death on September 11, 2008.

He was a WWII US Navy veteran. He worked for Murvin Oil Company for 60 years as a truck driver in the oil fields. He was a member of the VFW Post 43 in Olney. He attended Grace Evangelical Church. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Fred is survived by his son Jeffery Hendershott and wife Adrianne of Raleigh, North Carolina; 2 daughters, Janice Smith and husband Norman of Tomball, Texas and Barbara Sechrest of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jean Hendershott, parents William and May Hendershott and 2 brothers, Glenn and William Hendershott.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be sent to Grace Evangelical Church in memory of Charles "Fred" Hendershott.
