Obituary

I am the third of seven children and have always liked being in a big family with lots of playmates.  The fourth child, Benny, was very sick for several months then died in the summer of 1954, when I was two years old.  In November of 1954, we moved to our house in Concord California on Heaton circle.  We had a garden in the backyard and many animals: cats, dogs, chickens, ducks, turkeys and a goat.  My mother taught me in my first Sunday School class.
I started school at Hillcrest Elementary at age 5 ½ years and went there through sixth grade.  I got good grades and did well in art.  I played the violin and piano.  I took ballet and got my toe slippers.  In 1959, we went on a family vacation to Yosemite.
In Junior High (7th & 8th grades), I went to Glenbrook Junior High.  I was on the honor and citizenship rolls both years and scored high on an IQ test.  In the summers, I visited my Grandparents Gottfredson in Salt Lake City for two weeks.  I went to high school at Mount Diablo High in Concord.  I got all A's & B's and only one C. I took college prep classes and was a math major.  I was in Girls Choir, Concert Choir, Ensemble Choir, sang alto and Modern Dance.  I graduated in June 1970 as an honor graduate and from early morning Seminary (4 years).
I went to Youth Conference, Girls Camp for 2 years, did baptisms for the dead in the Oakland Temple and got my Patriarchal Blessing when I was 13 1/2 years old.
At 18 years old, I received my endowments and was married in the Oakland Temple.  During that marriage, I had two children.  The marriage lasted three years and ended in civil divorce in August of 1973, and a cancellation of the sealing in 1977.  I lived with my parents for three years and during that time I met my present husband and was remarried on March 5th, 1976.  We were sealed in the Washington DC Temple on May 30th, 1978.
We moved to Calhoun Illinois in October 1976, then into our own home at 24 Lee Ave. (now 1703 Fritschle Street) in Olney Illinois in 1978.
I attended college at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, California, then Olney Central College in Olney, Illinois, where I graduated with an associate's degree, Psychology major, in 1983.  I graduated in May 1985 with a Dental Assisting Certificate and worked as an Orthodontist Assistant during the summer of 1985.
I did voluntary work as a Cub Scout Den Leader and a Girl Scout Troop Leader and was also a volunteer with Birthright.
My hobbies are sewing, singing, crocheting, knitting, needlepoint and reading. I have a part time job called Cindy's Sewing, which I started in 1985.  From 1992 to 1997, I worked as a rural newspaper carrier for the Olney Daily Mail., which took about 3 hours a day.
My church callings through the years have been Primary President and Teacher, Relief Society teacher, Seminary teacher and Relief Society Homemaking Counselor.
Starting in 2006, I have really enjoyed doing genealogy research on the computer for our ancestors, extended family and Branch members and have submitted thousands of names to have Temple work done.  In August 2007, I started Family Search Indexing and have indexed thousands of names so they could be found by their relatives. I was in the Church's top 3% for doing this research.
Tim and I have 5 beautiful, healthy children and their 5 spouses, 20 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Cindy was in Hospice care and they and her husband Tim did a wonderful job caring for her in the end.
Cindy is Proceeded in death by both her parents, Lou & Marjorie Marshal and a younger brother Benny.
