Mr. Clarence Francis Schackmann, age 95
of Newton, IL passed away at 4:30 AM - Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Illinois Veteran's Home in Quincy, IL.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon – Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, IL with Fr. Al Kemme celebrating mass. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Newton, IL with full military rites by the Jasper Post #20 American Legion. Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until mass time. Clarence was born on August 3, 1916 in Jasper County, IL the son of Edward J. and Mary (Miller) Schackmann. He married Clara Marie Bergbower on December 20, 1941 in Newton, IL and she preceded him in death on October 1, 1998.
Clarence was a graduate of Newton Community High School and the Coyne Electrician School in Chicago. He was a retired electrician. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, wife 3 sons Art Schackmann, Dennis Schackmann and a infant son; 4 brothers Herman, Paul, Joe and Ralph Schackmann; 2 sisters Charlene Gribben and Margaret Hollis and a grandson Michael Dasenbrock.
