Clifford Louis "Cliff" Bierman, age 61

of Dieterich, Illinois passed away at 4:43 PM – Friday, August 21, 2015 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM – Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at Island Grove, Illinois with Fr. Joseph Carlos celebrating mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Island Grove, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 PM – Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the church with wake service at 6:00 PM. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois.  In loving memory of Cliff, memorials may be made to the Ciff Bierman Scholarship Fund.
Cliff was born on July 20, 1954 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham, Illinois. He was the son of the late Arthur "Jim" and Marcella (Haarman) Bierman. He married Sandy Lewis on August 21, 1976 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Island Grove, Illinois.
Cliff was a member of the St. Isidore the Farmer Parish and has served on the parish council. He was also a member of the choir at St. Isidore the Farmer Parish, as well as the men's sodality. Cliff was a graduate of Dieterich High School and earned a bachelors degree from the University of Illinois. He served on the school board at the Dieterich Unit #30 for 12 years, 10 of which being president. He was a member of Lucas Township district and has served as Trustee and was currently the Supervisor. He was a member of the Effingham County Pork Producers.
Cliff's pride and joy was spending time with his family and friends, especially his 8 grandchildren. He grew up farming and continued on with his dream of having his own farm and raising livestock. He enjoyed horse camping, especially in Southern Illinois. His recent passion was driving his Haflinger ponies, and his future goal was to raise them for his grandchildren so they could share in his hobby. Cliff always looked forward to attending and being involved in the Effingham County Fair with his family. He enjoyed golfing with his friends. Cliff was best known for his approachable personality and his witty sense of humor. Family, friends and neighbors looked to Cliff for his ability to listen and his sound advice. He was an avid sports fan and he enjoyed cheering on his children's teams, as well as the Fighting Illini.
Cliff is survived by his wife Sandy of 39 years; son: Josh (Melinda) Bierman, daughters: Nikki (Paul) Bierman, Tracy (Tim) Koester, and Jody (Dustin) Will, Grandchildren: Katie, Nathan, Blake, and Kyle Bierman, Clay and Lance Koester, and Wyatt and Kaylee Will. Sisters: Sandra (Tom) Laue, Karen (John) Neu, Lori (Clete) Westendorf, Janice (Ken) Campton; Brothers: Steven, Keith, and Greg (Cindy) Bierman.
Cliff was preceded in death by his father, his in-laws Richard and Audrey Lewis, nephew Jacob Laue and niece Krystal Neu.
