Cressie Marcella Chesnut, age 98
Of Rural Wheeler, Illinois passed away at 7:30 PM - Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at
Effingham Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Effingham, Illinois.
Funeral services celebrating Cressie's life will be held at 10:00 AM – Monday, November 10, 2014 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois
with Rick Britton officiating. Burial will be in the Bailey Cemetery in rural Wheeler, Illinois.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM - Sunday, November 9, 2014 at the funeral home.
In loving memory of Cressie, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Fund.

Cressie was born on March 11, 1916 in Jasper County, Illinois the daughter of Alonzo and Lenna (Bailey) Shamhart.
She attended Matlock School near Latona, Illinois.
She married Ralph Chesnut on July 31, 1948 in Olney, Illinois.

Cressie worked for many years at E.R. Moore in Newton, Illinois and later at GSI in Newton, Illinois until she retired.
Upon retirement she and
Ralph enjoyed spending time at their lake home in Minnesota where she could often be found fishing.
She had grown fond of gardening and tending to her roses.

Cressie lovingly used her sewing talents to make clothing for her granddaughter.
She loved to spend time with her family and spoiling her cats Tommy and Molly.

Husband of 66 years- Ralph Chesnut of Wheeler, Illinois
Daughter- Barbara (Richard) Sabino of Shelbyville, Illinois
Grandchildren- Shawn (Don) Gardner of Shelbyville, Illinois
Brian (Diane) Bunton of Lakewood, Illinois
Robin (John) Rarrick of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania
10 Great Grandchildren 3 Great Great-Grandchildren
Cressie was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers Perry, Forrest, Howard, Harold, Don
and Henry Dale Shamhart and a sister Ruby Woods.
