Dakota James Pierce, age 19 of Sumner, passed away at 2:59 PM on Saturday, October 10, 2020 in Destin, Florida.

Celebration of Life service will be at 4 PM on Saturday, October 24, 2020 in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home in Olney. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM on Saturday, October 24, 2020 in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home. Cremation rites will be accorded.

Dakota was born on February 26, 2001 in Effingham, the son of Larry and Yvonne (Haney) Pierce.

He was a compassionate young man, always ready to help people. He never wanted to see anybody sad. He would pay a stranger a compliment. He loved nature and animals. He enjoyed collecting rocks, and started to Bow Fish. He also enjoyed anything to do with fire and water. He will be missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Dakota is survived by his parents Larry and Yvonne Pierce of Sumner; sister Shilo Pierce of Sumner; grandfather Gerald Roome of Sumner; grandparents Debbie and Butch Maynard of Winter Haven, FL and Larry and Peggy Pierce of Louisiana; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandmothers Mary Roome and Lorraine Pierce and his great-grandparents.
