Dale Carter, age 68

January 17, 1951 – October 28, 2019

Marvin Dale Carter, age 68, of Rose Hill, Illinois and Barefoot, Florida, passed away at 9:43 PM – Monday, October 28, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family and friends.

Services celebrating Dale's life will be held at 6:00 PM- Tuesday, November 5, 2019 with Virgil Cisney officiating.  Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Meyer Funeral Home-Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois.  In Loving memory of Dale, memorials may be made to St. Jude.

Dale was born on January 17, 1951 in Mattoon, Illinois the son of John and Mildred (Alberts) Carter on January 17, 1951 and graduated from Newton High School in 1970. Following High School graduation he enlisted in the US Navy.  He married Nancy Kay Smith on October 18, 1992 and she survives.

Dale worked as a truck driver for CF Motor Freight where he was a member of the Teamsters Union. Following his retirement he enjoyed working for the Crooked Creek Township in Rose Hill.

He enjoyed fishing, going to the beach, golfing and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed classic cars and antique John Deere tractors and was a member of the Class Pack car club and the Jasper County antique tractor club.

He was always willing to help family, friends or strangers with anything at all. Whether it be working on cars or fixing up houses he was always there to lend a hand.
He was looking forward to retirement with Nancy in their beloved Barefoot Bay, Florida home.

Loving bride of 27 years- Nancy Kay of Hidalgo, Illinois

His Children- daughter, Renee Bennett (Tim) of Charleston, Illinois; son, Josh Carter (April) of Mattoon, Illinois; daughter, Amber Blake (Kevin) of Rose Hill, Illinois; daughter, Jade Rook (Michael) of Greenup, Illinois and daughter, Rachel Massey (Chris) of Greenup, Illinois.

Grandchildren- Andrea, Erika, Taylee; London, Austin, Ava, Laney; Savannah, Kaleb, Gracie, Elijah, Owen, Alexander; Ava, Kendall, Taylor, Sage, Ridge, Henli and an unborn grandson, Theo.

Great grandchildren- Braxton, Kanon, Braesyn and an unborn great-grandchild.

Siblings- Kenny Carter (Debbie); Mari Jane James (Doyle); Cheryl Ball (Toby); Brenda Titus (Dennis); Frank Carter (Lori) and Sam Carter as well as multiple "cousins" and other beloved family members.

Dale was predeceased by his father, John Carter, his paternal grandparents, Otto and Lena Carter and maternal grandparents Elmer and Edna Albert.
