David L. Chaplin, age 71, of Casey passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Casey Healthcare Center in Casey after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born on July 3, 1944 in Verbank, California the son of Dale Chaplin and Helen Stragter, who are both deceased.

David was a tattoo artist and loved to go fishing and camping. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He attended Scott Avenue Christian Church in Newton.

He was preceded in death by his mother Helen Stragter, his father Dale Chaplin and his son David Ray Chaplin.

Survivors include his daughter Sharon Schultz and husband Jeffery A. Schultz from Lawrenceville; two grandchildren, Kimberly Kornewald and Matthew Harrison from Lawrenceville; great-grandchild Jaylynn Elizabeth Schultz from Lawrenceville; brother Denny R. Chaplin from Casey; niece Sherry Chaplin of Kankakee; and close friends Kelly and Brenda Hart that he knew over 40 years from Sumner.

Visitation will be from 1-4 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2015 in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home in Olney. Celebration of Life service will follow at 4 PM. Reverend Kevin Colclasure will be officiating.
