David Lee Nichols, age 71

August 26, 1950 – February 5, 2022

David Lee Nichols, age 71, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 1:39 AM – Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Helia Healthcare in Newton, Illinois.

Graveside services celebrating David's life will be held at 2:00 PM – Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois, with Ron Mulvey officiating.  In loving memory of David, memorials may be made to Saved by Grace Animal Rescue, 13996 East 1000 ^th Ave, Newton, Illinois 62448.  Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.

David was born on August 26, 1950, in Mattoon, Illinois, the son of Don Ernest and Kathleen (Waddell) Nichols.  He graduated from Newton Community High School in 1968.  After high school, David attended Olney Central College.

David was the 7 ^th generation of the Nichols family to live in Jasper County.

David worked for many years in food service management for the Dutch Pantry, Pizza Hut and the State of Illinois.  He retired as a supervisor for a furniture manufacturer in Pontiac, Illinois.

David was a member of the Potter's House Ministry in Newton.  He enjoyed painting and doing crafts.  His art work has been sold throughout the country.

David is survived by:

Daughter – Brenda Hamand of Casey, Illinois

Sister – Diana Nichols of Silver Spring, Maryland

David was preceded in death by his parents.
