Mr. Dean Addis, age 83

Of Newton, IL and formerly of Neoga, IL passed away at 11:49 AM - Thursday, July 21, 2011                       at St. Anthony's Memorial in Effingham, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM – Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton, IL with Rick Britton officiating. Burial will be in the Plainfield Cemetery near Rose Hill, IL with full military rites by the Jasper Post #20 American Legion. Visitation will be held 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton, IL.
Dean was born February 28, 1928 in Rose Hill, IL the son of George and Nellie (Holmes) Addis. Dean served his country in the US Navy during World War II. Dean was a retired union laborer and had worked in construction. He was member of the Charleston Local Laborers Union and enjoyed farming, reading western novels and watching sports or westerns. Dean is survived by 5 children Brenda Addis of Newton, IL; Beverly Boldrey of Newton, IL; Pam (Steve) Utley of Newton, IL; Bradley Addis of Batavia, IL; Sherry Shamhart of Newton, IL. 2 Sisters Imogene Mahaffey of Effingham, IL and Lela May Unglesbee of Newton, IL; 11 Grandchildren; several Great-Grandchildren also survive. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Diane Addis, granddaughter Shasta Utley, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
