Denise Marie (Haarmann) Hahn, age 54
of Newton, Illinois passed away at 6:00 AM – Sunday, February 1, 2015
at her home surrounded by her family.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at
St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 4th from 5-8 p.m. at St. Thomas Church, and one hour prior to Thursday's service. Arrangements are in the care of Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.

Denise Marie was born on September 29, 1960, in Effingham, Illinois, the daughter of Harold and Pauline (Heischmidt) Haarmann.
Denise married Larry J. Hahn on June 4, 1983, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham, Illinois. Into this union were born three children: Chad, Corey and Joni.
Denise was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois. She was a member of the Newton Chapter FN PEO Sisterhood, and past member of both St. Thomas School Board and the Newton Boys and Girls Park Board. While her children were young, she enjoyed coaching for St. Thomas Grade School. Denise was passionate about her family, her career, the local Newton Eagles, the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs.
She graduated from St. Anthony Grade and High School in Effingham, Illinois. In 1981, she graduated from St. John's School of Nursing and Springfield College in Illinois. She received her Bachelor in Nursing from University of Illinois Springfield and received a Master of Science Degree in Community Health Administration and Wellness Promotion from California College for Health Sciences, National City, California.
Denise began her nursing career as a Registered Nurse at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Illinois in the Neurological Intermediate Care Unit, and then transferred to the Intensive Care Unit at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois. Denise served as Manager of the Rehab Department there for 20 years, serving Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Cardiopulmonary Rehab . She was instrumental in the growth of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation, as well as early intervention services for Physical and Occupational Therapy. She was a member of the Emergency Nurses Association while serving on multiple hospital committees and task forces and certified as an Advanced Cardiac Life Support provider and a Basic Life Support instructor. Most recently, Denise served as Director of the Emergency Room at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, Illinois where she valued contributing to quality Emergency Services.

Joni Hahn (boyfriend James Lidy) of Newton, Illinois
Grandchildren - Landry Hahn and baby boy Hudson Hahn expected in April, of Acworth, Georgia.
