Dennis McGowan, 72 of Olney, passed away at 2:43 PM on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville.

Celebration of Life service will be at a later date. Cremation rites will be accorded.

Dennis was born on November 16, 1949 in Fairfield, the son of James and Kathleen (Wallen) McGowan. He later married Debra Taylor on August 16, 1974 in Fairfield. She survives.

He was in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He also worked as a spray painter at Roadmaster for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and going hunting. He always loved spending time with his grandchildren and was so proud of each of them. He enjoyed building things and because of this love he had designed and built his own home that he and Debra live in. He also dug his own well by hand with the help of his wife.

Dennis is survived by his wife Debra McGowan of Olney; son Michael McGowan of Olney; 3 daughters Jamie Hinterscher (Wes) of Noble, Julie Angle (Brandon) of Olney, and Gayla McGowan of Olney; sister Mary Lynn McGowan of Fairfield; 9 grandchildren Taylor Angle, Emmalynn Angle, Sadie Angle, Caden Hinterscher, Trenton Hinterscher, Abigail Alldredge, Leah Miller, Kyndall McGowan and Kila Brown; 3 great-grandchildren Lukas Brown, Nolan Brown, and Kaysen French.

He is preceded in death by his parents James and Kathleen McGowan, infant sons David Wayne and James Matthew McGowan, and siblings Stanley Hodges, Charles McGowan, Mike McGowan, James Richard McGowan, Gayla Ann McGowan, Sharon "Chickie" McGowan and Charlene Sheraden.
