Donald Kevin "Cotten" Maginn, age 59, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 2:30 PM - Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at his home.
Funeral services celebrating Cotton's life will be held at 7:00 PM – Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Fr. Mark Stec officiating. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 PM – Thursday, June, 8, 2023, at the funeral home. The family requests casual attire be worn. In loving memory of Cotten, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Support Fund. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Donald Kevin, better known as "Cotten" was born on June 1, 1963, in Olney, Illinois, the son of Donald J. and Marilyn D. (Ochs) Maginn. He married his best friend of 30 years, Kathy (Wiseman) Stennett on December 7, 2022.
Cotten graduated from Newton Community High School with the Class of 1981. He worked in concrete construction and excavating for Smithenry Trenching for several years.
Cotten was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin, Illinois, Knights of Columbus #1704, and the Sons of the American Legion Squadron #932 in Sainte Marie, Illinois.
Cotten is survived by:
Wife and Best Friend – Kathy Maginn of Newton, Illinois
Children – Steve Maginn of Oblong, Illinois; Rachel (Jason) Mann of Lausanne, Switzerland; and Wayne (Melissa) Stennett of Boyleston, Illinois
Grandchildren – Kalissa Maginn, Nevaeh Maginn, Journey Maginn, Kevin Maginn, Kaelynn Stennett, Liana Stennett, Isaac Mann, and Ava Mann.
Aunts – Evelyn Parisot of Bettendorf, Iowa; Addie Jo Maginn of Indianapolis, Indiana; and Rose Wetzel of Noblesville, Indiana
Uncle – Joseph (Mary Lu) Maginn of Fishers, Indiana
Brother-in-law – George Wiseman of Walker, Louisiana; and Glen (Michelle) Wiseman of Browns, Illinois
Sister-in-law – Sara Chiarello of Mt Carmel, Illinois
Cotton was preceded in death by his parents, brother Michael Maginn, grandparents, and several uncles and aunts.
