Donald Lee Long, age 90
Donald Lee Long of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 8:19 PM - Thursday, January 26, 2017, at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM – Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois, with Fr. Dean Probst celebrating mass. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 5:00 - 7:00 PM – Monday, January 30, 2017, at the church and ½ hour before mass. In loving memory of Donald, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.
Donald was born on June 24, 1926, in Olney, Illinois, the son of Leo J. and Helena (Ritz) Long. He married Ladora Frichtl on October 26, 1948, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois.
Donald was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #1704 and Jasper County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed hunting and was a St. Louis Cardinal fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR races.

Evelyn (Don) Zuber of Stringtown, Illinois

Grandchildren – Beth (Eric) Eves, Debbie (Mike) Whitacre, Mark Long, Steve (Valerie) Long, Michael Long (special friend Jessica Johnson), Paul (Beth) Emmerich, Kari (Ian) Andersen, Stacy Zuber, Sarah Zuber, Jennifer Zuber (special friend Drew Beckman), Kurt (Danyiel) Long and Kristopher (Nicole) Long
