Donald Joseph Meinhart, age 90

Donald Joseph Meinhart, age 90, of Montrose, Illinois, passed away at 11:30 AM – Tuesday August 21, 2018, at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM – Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at Island Grove, Illinois with Fr. Bill Rooney celebrating mass.  Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Island Grove, Illinois.  Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM – Monday, August 27, 2018, at the church with a parish wake service at 7:00 PM.  There will also be visitation 1 hour before the mass in the St. Joseph's hall. In loving memory of Donald, memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois.

Donald was born on November 27, 1927, in Island Grove, Illinois the son of Leo F. and Margaret Elizabeth (Garwood) Meinhart.  He married Loretta Flood on February 4, 1950, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Montrose, Illinois.

Donald was a lifelong farmer and had also worked as a carpenter.  He was a member of St. Isidore the Farmer Parish and the Knights of Columbus #1704.

Donald enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing, tractor pulls and playing cards.

Donald is survived by: Wife of 68 years – Loretta Meinhart of Montrose, Illinois

Children – Bill (Karen) Meinhart of Newton, Illinois; Wayne (Patti) Meinhart of Mattoon, Illinois; Lenny Meinhart of Newton, Illinois; Lloyd (Melissa) Meinhart of Shorewood, Illinois; Steve (Sharon) Meinhart of Lafayette, Indiana; Marilyn (Russ) Allison of Mattoon, Illinois and Keith (Denise) Meinhart of Montrose, Illinois.

Grandchildren – Ryan Meinhart, Derek (Lisa) Meinhart, Nathan (Jenn) Meinhart, Michelle Meinhart, Ross (Jennifer) Meinhart, Kelly (Pete) Fandel, Brett (Jen) Meinhart, Conner (Rachel) Meinhart, Matthew Meinhart, Craig (Lindsay) Meinhart, Adam (Stephanie) Meinhart, Steffi (Mitchell) Rencheck, Ashley Meinhart and Tyler Meinhart

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Frank Meinhart and Harold "Butch" Meinhart and a sister Lucille Grimm.
