Donald Henry Pruemer, age 88
Of Dieterich, Illinois passed away at 12:35 PM - Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM – Thursday, October 16, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Island Grove, Illinois with Fr. Joe Carlos celebrating mass. Burial will be in the St. Francis Cemetery in Teutopolis, Illinois where he will be laid to rest alongside his wife Martha and son Timothy. Donald will be honored with military rites by the Teutopolis American Legion Post #924. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM – Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois and ½ hour before the mass in church. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family for a luncheon immediately following the burial.
In loving memory of Donald, memorials may be made to the St. Isidore Parrish or to the Dieterich Kluthe Center.

Donald H. Pruemer was born on May 7, 1926, in Teutopolis, Illinois the son of Gertrude Mary Nuxoll and Robert Aloysius Pruemer.
He graduated from Teutopolis High School and played on the basketball team. Donald served his country in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946 as a Radio Operator aboard the USS Idaho which was in Tokyo Bay during the signing of the Japanese surrender to the Allied Forces.
Donald graduated from Millikin University in 1951 with a degree in Business Administration.
On January 18, 1958, he married Martha Irene Kerans. They had five children: Stephanie (Kenton) Graves of Mackinaw, Illinois;
Stanley (Lois) Pruemer of Mechanicsville, Virginia; Linda Pruemer of Okinawa, Japan; Jill (Ramon) Rodriguez of Elgin, Illinois;
and Timothy Pruemer.
Donald worked at Sullivan Chevrolet in Champaign, lllinois as Financial Controller until retiring in 1982.
After retirement he moved back to Teutopolis, Illinois.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Teutopolis American Legion Post 924. He was also an avid Cardinals baseball and Illinois basketball fan and card player. On April 21, 1990 he married Lorena P. Westendorf of Dieterich, Illinois. Survivors include his wife,
her children: Ron (Bobbi) Westendorf, Judy (Alan) Meyers, Greg (Linda) Westendorf,
his brothers and sisters: Tom (Ramona) Pruemer, Jeanette (Joseph) Bergfeld, Connie (Clarence) Rieman, Judy (Fred) Colburn,
Doris (Larry) Hakman, Dennis Pruemer, his four children, fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Martha, son Timothy, and his parents.
