Dorothy Mary Hahn, age 94

of Ste. Marie, IL passed away at 2:45 AM – Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM – Saturday, May 31, 2014 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, IL with Fr. Al Kemme celebrating mass. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Ste. Marie, IL. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM – Friday, May 30, 2014 at the church and 1 hour before the mass in the church. In loving memory of Dorothy, memorials may be made to the Ste. Marie Foundation. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, IL.

Dorothy was born on December 17, 1919 in rural Jasper County, Illinois the daughter of Joseph P. and Minnie E. (Stark) Keller.
She married James A. Hahn on September 21, 1942 and he preceded her in death July 13, 1977.

Dorothy was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and the Ste. Marie American Legion Auxiliary.
She will be remembered as one of the cooks at Ste. Marie Elementary School and took pride in meeting those young students as they grew to adulthood. Dorothy was happiest working in her yard and flower garden, nurturing the smallest seedling into beautiful flowers.
In the past few years she found another world, reading numerous books.

Dorothy is survived by: 7 children, Kathy Slankard and Annette Kirts of Sainte Marie, IL; Sharon (Fred) Kocher of Chatham, IL; Karen (Doug) Hosselton of Olney, IL; Jim (Jennie) Hahn of Mattoon, IL; Larry (Denise) Hahn of Newton, IL and Kevin (Becky) Hahn of Bloomington, IL.;
17 Grandchildren, Bruce and Brad Slankard, Allison Menke, Kimberly Collins, Bridgett Randolph, Tara Claypool, Sarah Ayroles, Steven Kocher, Ryan, Eric and Tyler Hahn, Amanda McKee, Chad, Corey and Joni Hahn, Brandon and Emily Hahn, and 17 Great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by parents, husband, 3 sisters Evelyn Shoffstall, Helen Graham and Freda Swisher.
