Dorothy Long passed away October 19, 2016 at The Villages at Oak Ridge in Washington, IN.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 24 from 9-10 AM in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 10 AM. Burial will be at Haven Hill Memorial Gardens in Olney. Pastor Mike Baker will be officiating.
Dorothy was born on August 13, 1921 in Olney, the daughter of Thomas Guy and Alta (Marvel) Runyon. She later married Joe Long on April 29, 1972 in Olney. He preceded her in death in 2006.
Dorothy was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church and Mt. Gilead Church of Olney for many years. Dorothy loved taking part in crafting and ceramics. She also enjoyed spending her time fishing and enjoying her family. She was a beautician for many years and enjoyed spending time with her cat Coaly. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
Dorothy is survived by her son Keith Long and late wife Millie of Olney; daughter, Linda Kissel (David) of Lawrenceville; sister, Mary Louise McDaniel of Evansville; sister in law Doris Weaver of Olney, nieces, Melody Eyer (Sam) of Olney, Nancy Courter (Zane) of Washington, IN, Sherrie Otto (Tom) of Evansville and Jo Siekmann of Evansville; nephews, Mike Runyon (Mary) of Denison, TX, Gregory McDaniel (Karen) of Indianapolis, IN & Gary McDaniel (Cindy) of Booneville, IN; 2 grandchildren, Richard Long (Jennifer) of Silver Spring, MD, and Rodney Long of Olney; 2 great grandchildren. Chelsea Waxler and Zachary Long and many great nieces and great nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Thomas Guy and Alta Runyon; 2 brothers, Paul Runyon and Carl Runyon; sister, Maude Gumbel; 1st husband Dale Boatman, 2nd husband, Joe Long; nephew Dave Gumbel (surviving wife Shirley).
