Duane Richard Poehler, age 86

April 23, 1935 – June 21, 2021

Duane Richard Poehler, age 86, of Dieterich, Illinois, passed away at 8:50 AM – Monday, June 21, 2021, at OFS Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Duane's life will be held at 11:00 AM – Monday, June 28, 2021, at the St. Paul's Church in rural Bible Grove, Illinois.  Burial will be in the St. Paul's Cemetery in rural Bible Grove, Illinois, with full military rites by the Dieterich American Legion Post #628.  Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 PM – Sunday, June 27, 2021, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois, with masonic services at 7:00 PM.  There will also be visitation 1 hour before the service in the church.  In loving memory of Duane, memorials may be made to the Community Support Systems – Art Department.  The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com .

Duane was born on April 23, 1935, in Clay County, Illinois, the son of Amos and Alice (Schwengel) Poehler.  He married Janice Kay Miller on September 1, 1962, and she preceded him in death on July 22, 2010.

Duane served his country in the United States Army.

Duane was a retired farmer.  He was a member of St. Paul's Church, Winterrowd Masonic Lodge #664, Dieterich American Legion Post #628, Dieterich Ruritan Club and Ainad Shrine Temple.

Duane was an avid card player and St. Louis Cardinal fan and enjoyed hunting.  He was very supportive and attended the Dieterich Movin' Maroons ball games.

Duane was very community involved and helped delivered meals on wheels.

Grandchildren – Jessica (Dillon) Martin, Trey Robertson

Great Grandchildren – Kaidance Robertson, Keighan Robertson, Maleah Martin, Asher Martin and Simon Robertson

Special Friend – Pam Bloemer of Teutopolis, Illinois

Duane was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Howard Poehler, sister Wanda Birch and his special companion Bayleigh the dog.
