Dwight Lee Jourdan, age 65, of Olney, Illinois, formerly of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 11:27 PM – Friday May 12, 2023, at Helia Healthcare in Olney, Illinois
Funeral Services for Dwight will be held at 3:00 PM - Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 2:00 to 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Dwight Lee, better known as Lee, was born on April 30, 1958, in Olney, Illinois, the son of Kelly and Clara (Schackmann) Jourdan. He graduated from Newton Community High School, Class of 1977.
To his family he was known as a "jack of all trades". He worked for the City of Newton sewer department for 13 years and was an over the road truck driver for Schneider and LTI. He also worked as a custodian for the Dieterich School system and a driver for Rides Mass Transit in Newton.
Lee was a member of the Olney Eagles #2549. He was an avid fan of Richard Petty and the Dallas Cowgirls. He also enjoyed bowling as part of the men's league, "Kelly's Kids" and riding his motorcycle.
Lee spent as much time as possible with his daughter and granddaughters, enjoying family vacations, fishing, and watching John Wayne movies.
Lee is survived by:
Daughter – Jamie Hemrich of Olney, Illinois
Granddaughters – Kaylee Hemrich (fiancé Steven Waldrop, III) of Oblong, Illinois and
Tessa Hemrich (Justin Greifzu) of Olney, Illinois
Brother – Ed (Julie) Jourdan of Monticello, Mississippi
Lee was preceded in death by his parents and sister and brother-in-law Madonna and Larry Sroka.
