Edith Alberta (Cox) Croft, age 87
Edith Alberta (Cox) Croft, of Greenup, Illinois, passed away at 8:15 PM - Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Cumberland Rehab and Health Care in Greenup, Illinois.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM – Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Greenup, Illinois. Burial will be in the Greenup Cemetery in Greenup, Illinois. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM – Friday, August 26, 2016, at the Meyer Funeral Home - Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois. In loving memory of Edith, memorials may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church Greenup, Illinois 62428.
Edith was born on October 10, 1928, in Cumberland County, Illinois, the daughter of Ira William "Bill" and Ernestine Norene (Fogleman) Cox. She married Eugene George Croft on February 19, 1949, in Teutopolis, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on April 26, 2006.
Edith graduated from Greenup High School in 1946.
Edith was a homemaker and worked alongside her husband on the family farm for many years, before retiring and moving to Greenup in 1987. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church; Altar Society; former member of the Cumberland and Jasper County Home Extension. She enjoyed quilting, embroidering, cooking, visiting with family and friends, collecting precious moments and elephants.

Son – Loren (wife Denise) Croft of Greenup, Illinois
Grandchildren – Josh (wife Ashley) Croft of Wasilla, Alaska
Noel (wife Pamela) Sons of Germany
Melissa Sons of Mattoon, Illinois
Great Grandchildren –Zoe Croft, Emily Croft, Kambelle Ashmore, Elysa Sons, Eleanore Sons and Madison Pogue.
Daughter-in-law – Virginia Croft of Mattoon, Illinois
Sister-in-law – Shirley Cox of Woodbury, Illinois
Edith was preceded in death by her parents; husband Eugene; sons George Thomas Croft and Leon Eugene Croft, grandsons Jason Croft and Justin Croft and brothers Bill Cox and Thurman Cox.
