Edna Darlene "Dee" Toliver, age 75, of Newton, Illinois, was called home to be with her Lord at 8:52 PM – Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.
Funeral services celebrating Dee's life will be held at 3:00 PM – Monday, April 24, 2023, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Tom Matson officiating. Burial will be held the Aten Cemetery north of Hidalgo, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 PM – Monday, April 24, 2023, at the funeral home. In loving memory of Dee, memorials may be made to the Come Alive Minister CAM Pregnancy Care Center of Winder, Georgia and can be mailed to the Toliver Family 603 West Marion Street, Newton, Illinois 62448. Edna Darlene, better known as "Dee" was born on September 27, 1947, the daughter of William Kenneth and Thelma Elizabeth (Wilson) Ward. She married Alan Toliver, and he survives.
Dee graduated from Newton Community High School with the Class of 1965. She worked for 20 years as the director of Come Alive (CAM) Pregnancy Center in Winder, Georgia.
Dee was a member of the New Beginnings Church in Newton. She gave of her time as a volunteer at the Family Life Center in Newton.
Dee is survived by:
Husband of 30 years – Alan Toliver of Newton, Illinois
Children – Mary (David) Houck of Effingham, Illinois; Brent Toliver of Toluca, Illinois; Kelly Jackson of Newton, Illinois; and Stacy (Elsie) Weaver of Carthage, Illinois
Grandchildren – Matthew Einhorn, Joshua Houck, Ashley Reese, Chelsey Weeks, Kaleb Jackson, Kyle Weaver, Sierra Weaver, and Jayla Weaver
Siblings – Dale (Marilyn) Ward of Mattoon, Illinois; Roena Dart of Carlinville, Illinois; and Marsha (Rodney) Cochran of Newton, Illinois
8 Great Grandchildren
Dee was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Earl Ward and James Ward and a sister Sharon Einhorn.
