Elizabeth Lou (McVey) Costantino, 89, of Olney, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Lavender Ridge in Olney. She was born to John and Mary Jane (Rankin) McVey on January 5, 1928. She married George Costantino in Herrin, Illinois, on July 20, 1947; he preceded her in death on February 23, 2007.
Elizabeth (Liz or Betty, as her family and friends affectionately called her), was a homemaker, born and raised in Herrin, Illinois. Due to a career change, she and George moved their family to the Olney/Noble area in 1965. Elizabeth was very involved in her children's and grandchildren's lives. Her greatest joy in life was time spent with her family and friends going to yard sales, auctions, playing board games and golf. Elizabeth also volunteered for nearly 20 years at the Salvation Army in Olney. She deeply cherished her friendships with Cathy Combs and Sue Sherman and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four brothers, Thomas (Tommy), Albert, Ronald and William (Bill) McVey; two sisters, Levina Erwin and Barbara Brewer Cable; and a grandson, Derek Jason Levitt.
Surviving to cherish Elizabeth's memory are her children, Julia (Robert) Levitt of Alma, Illinois, Lisa (Bret) Todd of Springfield, Illinois, and Mark (Cris) Costantino of Olney; her sister, Ellen Collier of Fort Myers, Florida; sister-in-law, Wilma (Lucille) Costantino of Jacksonville, Florida; nine grandchildren, Angela Levitt, Cynthia Levitt (Jason) Holmes, Aaron Bandy, Ashley Bandy (Paul) Kellogg, Bret Todd, Bianca Costantino, Jeff (Kristen) Rake, Jason (Carie) Nay, John (Jennifer) Nay; fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 from 6 - 8 pm at Thrasher Family Funeral Home in Olney, Illinois. Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Herrin City Cemetery in Herrin, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association and will be accepted at the funeral home or at www.americanheartassociation.org.
