Eugene N. "Gene" Martinovsky, age 83, of Mattoon, Illinois, and formerly of Downers Grove and Lyons, Illinois, passed away at 6:25 PM – Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Mattoon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mattoon, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Gene's life will be held at 12:00 PM (Noon) – Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at the Meyer Funeral Home – Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois, with Mike Elliott officiating.  Burial will be in the Jewett Cemetery in Jewett, Illinois.  Visitation will be held 1 hour before the service.  The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com .

Eugene, better known to his family and friends as Gene, was born on October 12, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Peter and Beatrice (Endrias) Martinovsky.

Gene was united in marriage to Loretta Levingston, on December 12, 1959, in Cicero, Illinois.

Gene worked for W. Halls Printing for 33 years and retired from the maintenance department of R.B. High School after 23 years of service.  He was a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed gardening and tinkering.

Gene is survived by:

Wife of 62 years – Loretta Martinovsky of Mattoon, Illinois

Son – Gregory Martinovsky of Mattoon, Illinois

Grandchildren – Ryan Kavanaugh, Blake Pryor and Brooke Pryor

Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law – Guy (Pat) Levingston of Mattoon, Illinois; David (Wanda) Levingston, of Dieterich, Illinois; Lucy (Jerry) Brooks of St Louis, Missouri; Lola Levingston of Avon, Indiana; Gary (Pam) Levingston of Toledo, Illinois; Raymond (Terri) Levingston of Montrose, Illinois and Melvin (Marlene) Levingston of Jewett, Illinois

Gene was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Sharon Pryor.
