Evelyn Mae (Shoots) Titus

Of Lerna, Illinois passed peacefully at 7:17 PM – Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Life's Journey Senior Center in Mattoon, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Evelyn's life will be held at 11:00 AM – Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Lerna, Illinois.  Burial will be in the Janesville Cemetery in Janesville, Illinois.  Visitation will be held 1 hour before the service in the church.  In loving memory of Evelyn, memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Lerna, Illinois.  Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home (formerly Bishop Funeral Home) in Greenup, Illinois.  The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com.

Evelyn was born on May 8, 1924 in Cumberland County, Illinois the daughter of Guy Edmond and Bessie (Ozee) Shoots.  She married Garren Raymond Titus on February 20, 1948 and he preceded her in death on December 29, 2002.

Evelyn graduated Valedictorian of Class of 1941 from Lerna High School.  She then graduated from Utterback's Business College.

Evelyn was a homemaker and loving mother.  She had worked in the storekeeper's office at the Illinois Central Railroad in Mattoon, Illinois.  Her greatest joys in life were her family and her trip to the Holy Land.

Evelyn was a member of the Johnstown United Methodist Church for 76 years, United Methodist Church in Lerna; United Methodist Women and the Cumberland County Home Extension.

Evelyn is survived by:

4 Sons – Garren Roger (wife Rhonda) Titus of Anderson, South Carolina

Charles Arthur Ozee (wife Mary) Titus of Houston, Texas

Philip Paul (Patricia) Titus of Arcola, Illinois

Thomas Carl (Susie) Titus of Lerna, Illinois

10 Grandchildren        16 Great Grandchildren

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers Roy and George Shoots.
