Evon Marie (Wagner) Stapp, age 89
Of Newton, Illinois passed away at 12:08 PM - Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the home of her granddaughter in Urbana, Illinois.
Funeral services celebrating Evon's life will be held at 3:00 PM – Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois with Gary Hall officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 1 hour before the service. In loving memory of Evon, memorials may be made to the Scott Avenue Christian Church in Newton, Illinois.
Evon Marie was born on August 22, 1925 in Newton, Illinois the daughter of Raymond Edward Wagner and Ethel (Wakefield) Wagner. She married Jack Stapp on October 18, 1947 in Henderson, Kentucky and he preceded her in death on August 5, 1988.
Evon retired from Norris Electric in Newton, Illinois after 20 years of service. She was a member of the Scott Avenue Christian Church and enjoyed painting.
Evon is survived by:
Step Son – David Stapp of Newton, Illinois
Grandchildren – Danni Smith of Urbana, Illinois
David Smith of Urbana, Illinois
Chad Steele of Hopkinsville, Kentucky
Rebecca Betz of Portland, Oregon
Great Grandchildren – Cole Shaffer, Avery Betz, Autumn Steele and Cheyene Steele
Brothers – Eugene O. (Mary) Wagner of Newton, Illinois
John Dale (Sharon) Wagner of Newton, Illinois
Melvin Wagner of Ormond Beach, Florida
Sister – Louise McClane of Newton, Illinois
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Evon was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Janet Smith; brothers Raymond Wakefield Wagner and Gerald Ray Wagner.
