Floris L. (Wetherholt) Johnson Zimmerman, age 97
of Newton, Illinois passed away at 7:17 PM – Friday, August 28, 2015 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM –Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois with Nate Hagen officiating. Burial will be in the Trexler Cemetery in rural Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 PM – Monday, August 31, 2015 at the funeral home. In loving memory of Floris, memorials may be made to the Latona Church of Christ. The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com.
Floris was born on January 22, 1918 in rural Latona, Illinois the daughter of Alva and Pearl (Minnick) Wetherholt. She married Tony W. Johnson on September 22, 1934 and he preceded her in death September 11, 1972. She later married Lorenzo Zimmerman and he also preceded her in death.
Floris worked at E.R. Moore Cap and Gown Factory in Newton and retired after many years of service. She was a member of the Latona Church of Christ in Latona, Illinois. She was a wonderful cook, especially her pies and breads. She enjoyed playing games and being around children.
Floris is survived by: Children – Ronnie (Tanya) Johnson of Wheeler, Illinois; Janice Cox Garry of Effingham, Illinois; Judy Addis of Olney, Illinois; David (Mary) Johnson of Ingraham, Illinois and Nancy Johnson of Newton, Illinois. Daughter-in-law – Ilene Johnson of Newton, Illinois Step sons – Gene (Wanda) and Max (Judy) Zimmerman both of Decatur, Illinois. Sister – Arlene Whitehurst of Terre Haute, Indiana 14 Grandchildren and several Great Grandchildren
Floris was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son Joseph "Joe" Johnson; son-in-laws Larry Cox and Ken Garry; two brothers Leland and Medford Wetherholt and two sisters Dean Foster and Helen Cornwell.
