Obituary
Francis Xavier Yager, age 72
of Ste. Marie, Illinois went to be with the Lord at 4:10 AM - Monday, May 25, 2015 at
Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois following months of failing health. He was surrounded by his family and friends that loved him and they were covered by his abounding love, his sense of humor and his love of flowers.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 AM till 2:00 PM – Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Bend Community Building (formerly St. Valentine's parish hall) in The Bend community, rural Ste. Marie, Illinois. In loving memory of Francis, memorials may be made to Emma Kocher for medical expenses or to the Guest House of Carle Foundation Auxiliary in Urbana, Illinois. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com.
Francis was born on November 7, 1942 in the Bend, Ste. Marie Township, Jasper County, Illinois the son of Ray Oren and Margaret Mary (Bergbower) Yager. He married Judith Sharyn Hawes on March 14, 1964 in Paris, Illinois and she survives.
Francis worked for E.R. Stone Company in Ste. Marie, Illinois for 40 years as a heavy equipment operator and helped Elmer Kocher farm in The Bend for many years.
Francis was a member of St Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, Illinois. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, raising flowers and visiting with his family and friends.
Francis is survived by:
Wife of 50 years – Judith Sharyn "Judy" Yager of Ste. Marie, Illinois
Sons – Harold (Robin) Yager of Charleston, Illinois
Ray (Gena) Yager of Ste. Marie, Illinois
Francis R. Yager of Ste. Marie, Illinois
Sister – B. Jean (Gerald) Goss of The Bend, Illinois
Grandchildren – Christopher (Stephanie) Tozzo, Casey (Vasha) Tozzo, Lindsey R. Jackson, Derek X. Yager, Jared (Randi) Yager, Shelbi Ceara (Brian) Yager, Hannah N. Yager, Tara Beth Yager.
Great Grandchildren –Alexander, Nathanial and Robert Kraus, Aubry and Vincent Tozzo, Kairi Yager, Hunter and Lane Yager.
Sister-in-laws – Doloris Yager of Ste. Marie, Illinois
Marilyn Dilley and Dana Cochran of Olney, Illinois
Brother-in-laws – Charles E. (Marilyn) Hawes of Olney, Illinois
Richard E. (Anna) Hawes, Sr. of Robinson, Illinois

Francis was preceded in death by his parents, loving son Charles David Yager; sister Madeline (Joe) Goss; brothers Florent R. Yager and Paul J. Yager, Sr; mother and father-in-law Fern Rodgers and Richard H. "Holl" Hawes; sister-in-law Betty (Wayne) Dunlap and brother-in-law David T. Hawes.
