Mr. Frank M. Smith, age 81 Of Newton, IL passed away at 11:35 AM - Thursday, July 12, 2012 at his home.  Funeral services celebrating Frank's life will be held at 10:00 AM – Monday, July 16, 2012 at the Central Christian Church in Newton, IL with Bro. Mike Knepper officiating.  Burial will be in the Chapel Cemetery near Falmouth, IL with full military rites by the Jasper Post #20 American Legion.  Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM – Sunday, July 15, 2012 at the Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton, IL and ½  hour before the service in the church.  The obituary can be viewed and condolences left atwww.blakefh.com.  Frank was born on February 23, 1931 in Jasper County, IL the son of William and Stella (Fitch) Smith.  He married Neta L. McCann on April 29, 1956 in Decatur, IL and she survives.Frank was a retired union construction worker.  He was a member of the Central Christian Church in Newton.Frank served his county in the United States Army from 1952 until 1954 during the Korean Conflict.Frank was a member of the Jasper Post #20 American Legion and enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family.Frank is survived by:Wife of 56 years – Neta L. Smith of Newton, ILChildren – Janet Green (husband Wayne Holloway) of Robinson, ILRay Smith (fiancée Teresa Sprague) of Newton, ILSandy (husband Craig) Zumbahlen of Newton, ILJill (husband Paul) Abbott of Olathe, KSGrandchildren – Jason Smith, Rebecca Smith, Jarrett Zumbahlen and Claire ZumbahlenGreat Grandchildren – Conner Smith, Torrie Smith and Kelsey Carter Frank was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Bill and Delmar Smith and four sisters Evelyn Burgund, Ann Toland, Alice Pitcher and Wilma Byrom.
