George Andrew Dallmier, age 90, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 8:55 AM on Monday, July 25, 2022.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM – Saturday, July 30, 2022, at St Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Sainte Marie, Illinois. Burial will be in the St Mary's Cemetery in Sainte Marie, Illinois, with military rites by the Sainte Marie American Legion. Visitation will be held 8:30-10:30 AM before the mass. In loving memory of George, memorials may be made to the St Mary's Church, Sainte Marie American Legion or for mass intentions. George was born on September 3, 1931, in Jasper County, Illinois, the son of Edwin and Julia (Kerner) Dallmier. He married Hilda Rennier on November 27, 1952 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stringtown, Illinois. She preceded him in death on October 16, 2014.
George served his county in the United States Navy in 1951.
George was a lifelong grain and cattle farmer, who was a pioneer in no-till farming in Jasper County. He loved, cared and conserved the centennial farm that God had provided. In later years, he took a break from farming to be devoted to his family and a caregiver for his wife.
George was a member of St Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #1704 and the Sainte Marie American Legion Post #932.
George was a leader in the community serving on the Jasper County Soil and Water Board and the Sainte Marie School Board.
He also enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family and friends. He was known for his sharp wit and lots of laughs.
George is survived by:
Children - Carolyn (Robert) Barthelme of Newton, Illinois; George (Michele) Dallmier, Jr of Effingham, Illinois; Judith (Paul) Goebel of Montrose, Illinois; and Sylvan (Kimberly) Dallmier of Fort Branch, Indiana
Son-in-law - Andrew Townsend of New Bern, North Carolina
Brothers – Dick (Louise) Dallmier of Olney, Illinois and Don (Shirley) Dallmier of Arcola, Illinois
Sister – Madonna Schneider of Northbrook, Illinois

2 Great Great Grandchildren 4 on the way
George was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Margaret Townsend, brothers Lorraine (Lucille) Dallmier and Eugene (Juanita) Dallmier and a sister Marietta (Simon) Glatz.
