Obituary

George Jackson "Jack� Slover, age 79 of Calhoun, went home to be with his Lord at 3:24 PM, on Tuesday, November 27th, 2012 from his residence in Calhoun.

Cremation rites were accorded and a memorial service to honor the life of Jack will be held on Monday, December 3rd, 2012 at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of Stasi-Grove Funeral Home. Reverend Ben Woollard will be the officiating minister and Military Rites will be performed by the Richland County Veterans Organization.

Jack was born on January 20th, 1933 in Clay County, Illinois, the son of Lawrence and Mildred (Gross) Slover. He later married Patricia Heath on January 15th, 1957 in Lawrenceville, Illinois. She survives.

Jack was a member of the Eureka Church of Christ, and a truck driver by profession. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He enlisted in the army on February 24th, 1953 and he received an honorable discharged from the service on February 23rd, 1955 after completing his tour of duty. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and working in his garden. He was particularly proud of his grandchildren and loved them dearly. He was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Patricia of Olney, sons Galen Slover, and his wife Betty of Olney, Timothy Slover of Concord, North Carolina, Patrick Slover, and his wife Brenda of Olney, Dustin Slover, and his wife Misty of Olney, daughters Stephanie Slover of Olney, brothers, James "Vern� Slover of Dryden, Michigan, sisters Doris Long of Parkersburg, Jane VanMatre, and her husband Ray of Parkersburg, Vivian Hanson of Florida, Barbara Schnell, and her husband Butch of Noble, 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Mildred Slover, brother Frank Slover and an infant brother.

Memorials may be made out to the family in C/O Stasi-Grove Funeral Home Rt. 130 South in Olney.
