Georgiann Marie Kocher, age 90

Georgiann Marie Kocher, age 90, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 7:35 AM - Friday, November 17, 2017, at Newton Care Center in Newton, Illinois.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM – Monday, November 20, 2017, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, Illinois. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Ste. Marie, Illinois.  Visitation will be held 1 hour before the mass.  In loving memory of Georgiann, memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Church.  Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.

Georgiann was born on April 23, 1927, in Olney, Illinois, the daughter of George V. and Monica (Yost) Geiger.  She married Joseph Kocher on April 6, 1948, at St. Valentine's Catholic Church in the Bend, Jasper County, Illinois.  Joseph preceded her in death on July 31, 2003.

Georgiann graduated from Oblong High School in 1944, and from Nursing School in 1947.  She was a Register Nurse for 48 years and had worked for Dr. Hartrich, Jasper County Health Department and Richland Memorial Hospital.

Georgiann was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie. She enjoyed going to the Monday night dances at Ste. Marie, cake decorating, quilting and sewing.

Georgiann is survived by:

Children – Norman (Wanda) Kocher of Newton, Illinois; Brenda (Tim) Brennan of Cisco, Illinois; Carole Ann (Roger) Bass of Newton, Illinois; Kevin (JoAnn) Kocher of Sumner, Illinois and Jeanne (Ray) Schuch of Newton, Illinois
Daughter-in-law - Becky Kocher of Cherry Valley, California

Grandchildren – Delores Johnson, Anthony Kocher, Wayne Kocher, Keith Kocher, Janice Batzell, Joshua Kocher, Brian Moran, Matthew Moran, Lisa Gensler, Andrew Moran, Ryan Bass, Jonathan Bass, Robert Kocher, Katie Pritts, Beverly Bell, Michael Kocher, Sara Miller, Danyiel Long and  Justin Schuch
