Gregory William Ragouzis, age 65

September 5, 1954 – July 8, 2020

Gregory William Ragouzis, age 65, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at Sunset Health Care Center in Union, Missouri.

Private family services will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at the Meyer Funeral Home - Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois.  Burial will be in the Island Creek Cemetery in rural Montrose, Illinois.  In loving memory of Gregory, memorials may be made to your favorite charity.  The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com .

Gregory was born on September 5, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of William "Bill" and Cora "Coby" (Miller) Ragouzis.

Gregory was baptized at the Harmon Chapel Church north of Gila, Illinois.  Throughout his early years he enjoyed returning to his grandparent's farm just down the road from the church for family gatherings.

Greg is a 1972 graduate of Webster Groves High School in Webster Groves, Missouri.   He was very proud to be a member of the swimming & diving team when they won the state championship in his senior year.  Greg received his AA degree in Human Services from St. Louis Community College in St. Louis, Missouri.

Greg's hobbies included drawing (pastels & charcoal), stamp collecting, listening to rock music from his vinyl LP collection, and playing the piano.  Greg took his role as oldest brother seriously and kept a watchful eye on his siblings while his parents worked.  He was also a leader in the neighborhood and would organize walks to the local Velvet Freeze on hot summer days for his siblings and the younger kids on the block.  Greg had an incredible sense of balance and would ride his unicycle to and from while the kids walked!

Recently, Greg shared many fond memories of his childhood and time spent with all of his cousins, aunts and uncles over the years.  He was particularly touched in recent months by the many cards, notes, goodies and calls he received from all.

Loving Siblings: Michael (Susie) Ragouzis, Penny (Phil) Greene, Andrew Ragouzis, all of St. Louis, Missouri

Special Niece - Sofia Ragouzis-Roman of St. Louis, Missouri

Special Nephew – Paul (Sarah) Ragouzis of Mt. Vernon, Illinois

Gregory was preceded in death by his parents.
