Harold A. Bolander, age 85
of Newton, Illinois passed away at 11:42 PM - Sunday, May 24, 2015 at
Newton Rest Haven in Newton, Illinois.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM – Thursday, May 28, 2015 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois with Fr. Michael Haag celebrating mass. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM – Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the church and half hour before the mass. In loving memory of Harold, memorials may be made to the Knights of Columbus. Arrangements are under the care of Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.
Harold was born on March 1, 1930 in Fox Township, Jasper County, Illinois the son of Leo N. and Charlene (Litzelman) Bolander. He married Bernice Meinhart on October 7, 1950 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Island Grove, Illinois and she survives.
Harold was a sales person for a local company in Newton, Illinois for over 40 years.
Harold was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois, was a 4th degree member of Knight of Columbus #1704.
Harold had served on the St. Thomas School Board and was a Newton City councilman for 14 years. He enjoyed playing cards and visiting with family and friends.

Susan (Bruce) Jacobson of Minneapolis, Minnesota
Sharon (Brad) Ghast of Mt. Vernon, Illinois
Grandchildren – Amanda Bolander, Shana Bolander, Merissa (Matt) Brown, Elizabeth Bunton, Matthew Jacobson, Wes Jacobson, Clint (Laura) Ghast and Megan (Roger) Sugrue
Great Grandchildren –Alex Ghast, Jackson Ghast, Evan Sugure and Owen Sugrue
Sister – Georgianna (Ralph) Weber of Wakefield, Illinois
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, brother Odilo "Joe" Bolander, sisters Mary Eloise Reynolds and Merceda Money.
