Henry Dale Shamhart, age 86
of Wheeler, IL passed away at 12:18 PM – Saturday, May 3, 2014 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM – Monday, May 12, 2014 at the Meyer Funeral Home (formerly Blake-Wright Funeral Home) in Dieterich, IL with Eric Splechter officiating. Burial will be in the Bailey Cemetery in Wheeler, IL with full military rites. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM – Sunday, May 11, 2014 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, IL. Henry Dale was born on May 13, 1927 in rural Wheeler, IL the son of Alonzo and Lenna (Bailey) Shamhart. He married Wanda Huston on August 19, 1959 and she preceded him in death on November 20, 2003.
Henry proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1952 to 1956.
Henry was a lifelong farmer and worked as a tool machinist in Effingham, IL. He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

Children- Rick (friend Kim Weaver) Shamhart of Wheeler, Illinois; Dawn (David) Ligon of Santa Barbara, California; Bob (Alice) Reed of Noble, Illinois; Zane (Jeffrey) Chapman of Edwardsville, Illinois and Charlotte (Gary) Collins of Crystal Lake, Illinois
Grandchildren- Lindsay Ligon, John Ligon and Brian Reed
Sister- Cressie (Ralph) Chesnut of Wheeler, IL
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 5 brothers Perry, Forrest, Howard, Harold and Don Shamhart and sister Ruby Woods.
