Ilene B. Corso, age 92

Ilene B. Corso, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 8:30 AM – Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Willowbrook Memory Care in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM – Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the Latona Church of Christ in Latona, Illinois, with Nate Hagen and Rev. Steve Willis officiating.   Burial will be in the Ridge Cemetery in rural Hord, Illinois.   Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM – Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the church.  In loving memory of Ilene, memorials may be made to the Latona Church of Christ.

Ilene was born on September 20, 1923, in Jasper County, Illinois, the daughter of Homer and Mamie (Clagg) Elmore.  She married Arlie Osborn in March, 1941, and he preceded her in death in April 1947.  She later married Tom Hake in November, 1959, and he preceded her in death in October, 1973.  She married Dominic Corso in June, 1984, and he preceded her in death in October, 2000.

Ilene worked for many years in Chicago, Illinois, at White Castle as a supervisor.  After returning to Jasper County, she operated a beauty shop in her home, worked at Parklanes and the Freeze in Newton.

Ilene was a member of the Latona Church of Christ and the Jasper County Home Extension.  She enjoyed gardening, quilting and making ceramics, and was a great cook.

Son – Mike (Georgine) Hake of Dyer, Indiana
Grandchildren – Michele Bjarnson, Steven Osborn, Nicole Osborn, Kim (Al) Cross, Tony (Dana) Peacher, Chris Sotak and Jennifer Sotak
11 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild
Sister – Beverly (Paul Dean) Flinn of Milton, Florida
Brothers – Marvin (Dorothy) Elmore, Vonley, and Roscoe Elmore – all of Wheeler, Illinois; Sheldon (Betty) Elmore of Mason, Illinois; and Loren (Norma Jean) Elmore of Johnsonville, Illinois

Ilene was preceded in death by her parents; 3 husbands; son, Wayne Osborn; granddaughter, Heather Joy (Peacher) Brown; son-in-law, William Read; great grandsons, Dustin and Mike Lance; sister, Kathleen Elmore; brothers, Alvin, Dean, and Merle Elmore.
