Jackie Lee "Jack" Martin, age 77
Of Newton, Illinois passed away at 3:08 AM - Friday, October 10, 2014 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM – Monday, October 13, 2014 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois with Rick Britton officiating. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois.
Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM – Sunday, October 12, 2014 at the funeral home.
In loving memory of Jack, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Boys and Girls Park.
Jackie Lee Martin was born on November 20, 1936 in Newton, Illinois the son of John Jack and Ruby Pearl Mildred (Utley) Martin.
Jack attended Newton Community High School. In 1970 he married Barbara Dodson in Newton, Illinois
Jack was employed by the State of Illinois for 39 years. He retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation in 2001.
He was the Jasper County Republican County Chairman for many years. He coached at the Jasper County Boys and Girls Park for over 15 years.

Jack loved gardening and thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren.

6 Children- Deborah (Larry) Dorn of Newton, Illinois
Ruby Martin (Ed) Worthey of Richmond, Texas
Vicki (Kim Kikuts) Martin of Rock Springs, Wyoming
Jack Martin Utley of Apache Junction, Arizona
Kay Martin of Sherwood, Oregon
Jerry (Heather) Martin of Newton, Illinois
3 Step-Children- Michael (Jo) Clark of Rose Hill, Illinois
Judith (Leon) Zumbahlen of Oblong, Illinois
Valerie Clark (Everett Kitchen) of Hunt City, Illinois
18 Grandchildren 17 Great-grandchildren and 1 Great-great grandchild
2 Sister-in-laws- Nadine Martin of Olney, Illinois and Hazel Martin of Newton, Illinois
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Edward Martin and Leroy "Babe" Martin, a sister Margaret (Martin) Curtright, step-son John Milburn and
a great-grandson Christopher Andrews.
